Places to Visit

• Temple of the Sun or Koricancha or Qoricancha.
• It is a Quechua word that means “Temple of Gold” however, according to some research, its real name would be “Inti Kancha” which means 'Temple of the Sun'. Both names refer to the majestic gold decoration that was inside.
• Sacsayhuaman.
• It is the largest and most impressive of the four archaeological ruins on the outskirts of Cusco, Peru. Construction began during the rule of Pachacutec in the 15th century; however, it was Huayna Capac who completed it in the 15th century.
• Kenko “Place of the Mummification of the leaders”.
• Kenko means twisted labyrinth with many turns. The name is translated as zigzag, perhaps because of the small canals carved with that line that are seen in the rocks of the place and could have served to conduct the chicha or the blood of the sacrifices of the llamas. It is located east of Sacsayhuaman, at an altitude of 3600 meters above sea level, on an outcrop of the Yuncaypata limestone formation that was formed in the Cretaceous about 80 million years ago.
• Baños del inca de Tambomachay.
• Tambomachay “means place of rest” although it is also known as “baths of the Inca” or “baths of the ñusta”. The double name of “bath of the Inca” and “bath of the ñusta” has its justification in the presence in the complex of two aqueducts that are responsible for transporting clean water to the site throughout the year.
• Pukapukara “Migratory Control of the Tahuantinsuyo”.
• It is a military construction located near Cusco, Peru. This fortress is composed of large walls, terraces and staircases and was part of the defensive complex of Cusco in particular and the Inca empire in general.
